About Me

My name is Elizabeth Rodriguez, also known as ShortyDooWop, and I am a hip-hop culture fanatic taking my passion for multi-media. I was born and raised in Providence, RI to Dominican parents. 

As I was growing up in the 80’s I was heavily influenced by New York hip-hop. I heard artists like LL Cool J, EPMD, Run DMC, and Eric B. and Rakim. The first time I heard a female rapper was Roxanne Shante as a child, and then decided I wanted to rap myself when I heard MC Lyte.  I was the only girl in my breakdancing crew. The hip-hop era that I love the most is the 90’s. In 1994, I moved to Fort Myers, FL area with my family. There I started expanding my hip hop knowledge with the southern influence. I found a love for communications and am aspiring to be on radio or tv.

       I currently reside with my family in Miami. My passion for hip-hop grew on my oldest son who has become a deejay. I now have a podcast with my son, DJ Finesco, where we talk about hip hop & pop culture and you can get two different generational perspectives on any given subject. As I was listening to hip hop all the time, it was only natural that my kids were heavily influenced also.

       I am currently a graduate student at Full Sail University in the New Media Journalism master’s degree program. 

My vision for creating my Vibin Out brand is to expand my passion for hip-hop to all media channels possible including YouTube and television. Vibin Out will also host annual events celebrating the elements of hip-hop. My radio idol has always been Angie Martinez and is the person that has influenced me the most in hip-hop journalism.
