Miami has a new radio station dedicated to old school hip hop called PK’s Throwback 105.5. This is a iHeart radio station created by Papa Keith from the sister station 103.5 The Beat. The PK stands for Papa Keith. This station was created for the love and awareness of old school hip hop. The station turned a year old and for the celebration they hosted The Godfather’s of Hip Hop concert in Miramar, FL on Friday, May 18, 2018.

In the hip hop culture today, there are many new artists that don’t respect the forefathers of hip hop. Papa Keith explained this is the reason it was important to him to put this show together. The radio station has many old school hip hop deejays like DJ LS One which makes it more authentic. Even though some new artists have disregarded the forefathers of rap, this show definitely brought old school hip hop fans together

This concert was put together with several old school hip hop artists on the schedule. Some fans were let down when they heard Naughty By Nature did not make it, however, they quickly were content by the end of the night with such legends performing. MR Cheeks opened up the show followed by Black Sheep then Das Efx. But the final two performances had the fans on their feet. The creator of beatboxing himself, Doug E. Fresh, put on a great show and awed the fans while beat boxing for over 2 minutes straight without stopping for a break! The show was then closed out by Eric B. & Rakim. It has been 20 years since they started performing together again and the fans were in the stands rapping along to all the lyrics. Eric B & Rakim even had an artist on stage painting while performing which gave their show an extra touch of art. The concert definitely took you back through memory lane.
